Find Your Wings - Mark Harris

I heard the song below for the first time after we had returned home from Vietnam with the boys. I remember listening very closely to the words to it, because at the time I was trying to choose music that would go with a photo montage that our friend Karin was making for us. The words just struck a chord with me, in the way that music often does.

Just a few minutes ago I turned on the radio. The boys had been fighting over some toy or another. As soon as the music started, they both stopped what they were doing, stood up, and began dancing. It's so funny to watch them. A few weeks ago when they first started "dancing", it was just sitting down and swaying their heads back and forth. They added their arms in the swaying soon after, and continued to progress up to today. Standing up, swaying, arms moving, sometimes clapping, sometimes bouncing. It's awesome to watch. During the few minutes this was going on, Find Your Wings came on the radio, and it hit me again that I'm a Mom. That everything I am doing with them (or not doing with them) is shaping them to be men. Hopefully men of honor and tremendous faith, with a good character. That is my prayer.
